Two Fathers, One Choice

God is Sovereign in Every Season

Seasons change. Heat, cold, victory, confusion, pain. All seasons exist within God’s ecosystem. Sometimes we ask: If God promised blessing, why is this season so hard? If He gave, why did He allow it to be taken? Job could have asked the same. Can we comprehend enough of what God has to ask Him why? How can we expect to understand the why’s of eternity when we haven’t decoded even out physical world?

We do not always know why. Suffering strengthens faith and produces dependence on Jesus. Many things we will only understand when we see Him face to face.

One thing He asks us to hold on to:  Know that I love you. Know that I am good. What he says in Jeremiah 29:11 does not change because our season changes. His plans are good.  His ways are higher. He sees eternity while we see the right now.

When you find yourself slipping and wondering at all the darkness sorrow and evil in this world, remember God is still sovereign

Walking in the Light

John 12:35–36 says:  Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.

Darkness removes clarity. The Holy Spirit brings clarity, purpose, and discernment.

Spirit of God and spirit of the World

Our spirit is seated with Christ.

Our body is exposed to the world.

Our soul stands in between. 

Have you ever felt “man I am not able to pray” that’s the world, the heaviness here influencing  your soul from connecting to the reality of your salvation and relationship with God.

 He who knows God is his Father, who understands the sovereignty of his Father and has a relationship with the Father will always be able to navigate the storm or the season.  

How do we hold on to that? Through prayer, through word, through fasting, through fellowship with people who love the Lord. We became sons of light by adoption, not by effort. But if we hold the world’s hand while claiming to belong to Him, what testimony are we living?

A person walking in darkness cannot see where he is going. There is no vision, no purpose, no clarity. Many say, “I’m just going with the flow.” But which flow? The flow of the world, or the flow of the Holy Spirit? When the Holy Spirit leads, there is always direction and clarity.

1 John 1: 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

Choose your father

We must ask ourselves: am I walking like my Father, or am I bearing another fruit? If hatred, worldliness, and restlessness fill the heart, then our walk is no longer consistent with Him. Those who walk in darkness receive everything without discernment. Like a person suddenly in the dark, they grasp anything just to feel in control. But those who walk in the light walk in clarity, freedom, and boldness. They recognise what to accept and what to reject because the Holy Spirit leads them. When we open every door without discernment, we slowly slide into darkness and then wonder why our minds feel restless and overwhelmed. Jesus calls us to walk in the light so that we may prove to be children of the light. Our fruit reveals the tree we are connected to. Every day we choose which influence we will follow. We get to choose - To make the world our father or God our Father. 

Two Fathers

John 8:44 shows the contrast:

The Father of Truth leads and restores. The Father of Lies deceives and binds. God the Father loves us. He protects, provides, cares, and corrects to prevent harm. The devil hates us because we are made in God’s image. His goal is to steal, kill, and destroy.

God promises green pastures, restoration, and His presence even in valleys. The enemy never reveals his true intent. He comes sweetly, through charm, entertainment, comfort, and addiction, promising peace, prosperity, and an easier life. His ways appear attractive and appealing, and our flesh is often drawn to them.

What the father feeds us will strengthen nourish and restore us. But with the devil it will be fun and party in the beginning but you are the food. In the end you will be consumed and cast off like the prodigal son or worse, like Judas who killed himself after the simple enticement of 30 silver coins bought him a one way ticket to hell and a rope to hang on.

God the Father gives freedom and free will. All the prodigals have a choice whether you want to stay in his presence or not. You have a choice whether you want to follow what he says to you or not.

What happened to Samson? First it was the promise of Delilah, comfort and pampering, but soon it was betrayal, stolen anointing and binding. The enemy binds through addiction, attachment, and unhealthy dependence. 

Samson was taken captive, forced to labour, and made to entertain his enemies. Addiction does the same to us. When we become attached to people, habits, or endless entertainment, we slowly become bound. We laugh and enjoy, not realising the enemy is entertained by our bondage. The soul that was meant to be tied to God becomes tied to addiction. Yet like the prodigal’s father, God still says, “I will set you free.”

When Samson gave in to temptation, his relationship with God was not destroyed, but he moved away. He could no longer hear clearly. The anointing weakened. Clarity faded. Purpose blurred. Strength was gone. What God has called you to do, you can do only with Him. The Father promises life, eternal life. When we abide in Christ, He reveals His good plans, to give us a future and an expected end, what was lost in Eden restored in Him. Judas was promised 30 silver coins, he never even used it before he chose the eternal death. Whatever the devil offers, death stains it. 

Clothing and Covering

In Eden, Adam and Eve realised they were naked. Physically they were the same, but spiritually they had lost their covering. The devil strips. God clothes. When spiritual covering is removed, temptations, accusations, and fear easily affect the mind. It is as if the helmet of salvation is missing. When the prodigal returned, the father removed the dirty garments and clothed him with a robe. Righteousness is right standing with God. It restores identity and protection.

When we open doors to the enemy, he begins to consume what belongs to us. Peace disappears. Love fades. Homes grow restless. Not because God left, but because we stepped out of the Father’s house.

Remain clothed. Remain in Him. Otherwise the enemy feeds, strips, and binds, even while we claim, “I have the Spirit of Christ.” True freedom is walking consistently with the Father.

Christ’s Exchange

God Only gives us the truth, care, freedom, life, love, clothes while the devil only lies, hates, binds, strips and brings death. But fear not. On the cross Christ was lied about, mocked, bound, beaten, and killed so we could enter the Father’s house as sons brought to glory.

He suffered so we could live in the light. The world offers other tables and celebrations, but they lead to bondage. Return to the Shepherd. Let Him restore your soul. Remain in the light.
